Adding points to a surface?

How do you add points to and imported XML surface with out having to place each point separately?

I have exploded my surface to just contours and placed points along poly lines vertices automatically but it seems there should be a way to add point to the whole surface at once with out explode.

So you imported a surface from LandXML and you want points?
Where do want the points? Each tin vertex?
Or do you want a grid of points?

Either way would be fine.
I would prefer the vertices.
