I had this post in the autocad customization section but got no respondace so i am trying it here now.
I am trying to improve on this macro
^C^C_pastespec
\properties
I use it to cut & paste info from excel in to autocad. I would like to have the pastespec choose bitmap automatically and the properties aspect unlock, and change the width to 485.69 and the height to 388.19. I have tried to put - before the command but it does not work. Any help would be appreciated.
I also tried to write a script but it did not work either- I am not that good at scripts.
PASTESPEC
BITMAP

LOCK ASPECT
NO
WIDTH
485.69
HEIGHT
388.19

from personal experience, I dont believe you can do what you are asking, I have just settled on letting it open the dialog, and selecting the proper stuff manually. There is no command line form of pastespec as far as I know, and you cant use a program to select objects in a dialog box. I would also recommend not inserting the table as a bitmap, why not insert it as Autocad entity and have it make it a true table (it will give you far superior ability to manipulate it).

Thanks for the reply. I want to upgrade to AutoCAD 2008 so I can link the excel sheet to a table in cad but unfortunately I do not make the call on that one. I am just going to live in the stone age until then.
Thanks again

What version are you running, I believe you can paste as a table as far back as 2005, if not it was definitely available in 07

I am running 07 in the office and 08 at home. The problem is that my boss wants it as a bitmap, that way no one can change the information. I have tried to persuade him to use tables and put a permission code on the drawing but he thinks that it would cause too much hassle. I have tried to link the excel file to a cad drawing at home in 08 but it freezes my computer. I think that my excel file might be too big to link. Thank for your reply.

Once you get the OLE object in your drawing, check the properties and make sure the Plot quality is set to momochrome. Reducing this helps with memory, regenrating, and plotting. We have 4G of RAM and if we try and run the OLE as High Graphic, it bogs our computers too.
The file we are linkingis 600 lines for a hospital Code Analysis. If your excel file is larger than that, you might want to split it up.
How big is your file????

My excel file is 1,704 kb before user input. When its all fill in it about 1,750 kb. It calcuates electrical panel infomation for retail space.(load summary, watts, HP, etc..) I only have 1G of ram. I cant even get it into cad. I have even tried to link just a portion of the file in (cell b-2 to r-34) I thought that might help but it I was wrong.

In our office we are still using spanner on Acad 07. we probably will until we upgrade to 2008 or better. in previous employment pastspec worked great to import excell. in the recent CAD camp they gave a few classes on excell intigration using 08. you might be able to find information here at Augi on the class literature as to what works in 07 and doesn't.
