I'm looking at the possibility of linking multiple projects into one master plan for the purpose of 3D viewing the combined models. We are worried about file size and manuverability.

In our individual projects, the exterior shell exists on a separate workset. If we link the projects from a view that only uses the exterior shell workset, will that reduce the combined working memory size?

Thanks

When linking files, use the Specify Worksets option. This enables you to load only the needed geometry, reducing memory requirements.

Duh ....thanks. I knew that was there for a project load ... guess I forgot it was there also in the link process. I was looking for in in my manage links area.

Note that if you have already linked them in, go to your 'manage links' and 'reload from' (the same file) - that lets you select the worksets as per image above
