Is there a difference between Autodesk Viz and Viz Render that ships with ADT 2005? I have Viz Render and wanted to do a few of the tutorials from the Autodesk website but there seems to be something different. If the two are completely different, does anyone know where I could get a few online tutorials for Viz Render?
Thanks.

The biggest difference...VIZ is a full-on modeling
and animation program. VIZ will allow one to
render across the network, Viz Render will not.

Thanks Michael,
I'm also seeing that there must be a lot of rendering options missing too, such as mental ray materials.

The idea here is simple
IF Viz Render as implemented in
ADT 2005 were fully functional
one would have no motivation
to purchase VIZ.

A good place to start looking for Viz Render online tutorials is www.vizdepot.com. They are a good source of information on both the full version of Viz and ADT Viz Render. Also, I know there were several Viz Render tutorials that shipped with ADT 2004 and automatically loaded into the Tutorials folder under ADT. I noticed they are missing in ADT 2005. If you know anyone that has ADT 2004 installed on their machine, just copy the tutorials folder (it's about 200MB worth of files). Also, Any Viz tutorials that deal with photometric lighting and radiosity will also work in Viz Render.

I checked out that web site. Thanks, it has some very useful info and I think I'll try the tutorials.

I also think that you can not construct shapes in VIZ render.
You have to do all the drawing in ACAD.

I am seeing a huge difference in the tools one has for creating
materials within Viz Render as compared to the real version.
And these are not to my liking either, instead of being able to
to create good materials proceduraly one must resort to mapping
images instead simply because the material editor has been
dumbed down.
