To whom it may Concern;

I have defined a pipe network in the plan view from structure to structure, and this is what is viewed in the profile, however in the cross sections the pipes stretch from one end of the section grid to the other and passes right through the structures that are in the network. How do I get the pipe to display properly within the section range?

Ok now I have two pipes doing this! One is 53 feet in length and the other is 65 feet, but both stretch approximately 240 across the section grid.

Are the pipes you are trying to show in the section parallel to the section line? I have found that it doesn't like to do a section cut through pipes that are parallel to the section line. It will tend to draw a flat pipe section all the way across the section view. If this is the case, try tweaking the section line by grip edit so that the section line is not parallel to the pipe.

I've seen this issue as well and currently, the response from Autodesk is that they are aware of the issue. Hopefully it will be fixed in 2009.

Ok, that got it. Sure is a poor way to do business, I expected a better effort on Autodesk’s part.

I was speaking to a Civil 3D trainer about this issue yesterday and he said that the circular pipe stretching from one edge of the cross section to the other is a product of the style, and that you can specify the style to draw the pipe like it is drawn in the profile with lines instead of ellipses and from structure to structure. I have been researching this and have not found anything yet, but will keep looking and will post a solution if found.
