Hi - I have AutoCAD 2000i running on Windows 2000 Service Pack 2. My input is with keyboard and CalComp DrawingBoard III. The IT guys who administer our Novell network keep a mouse hooked to the machine also, but I do not use it. My problem is that in AutoCAD about every tenth pick with the DrawingBoard cursor locks up the computer for about 3 or 4 seconds. Needless to say this slows me down quite a bit. I have played around with Control Panel settings and AutoCAD options trying to find something that affects this with no luck. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Do you have the latest drivers?

I would suggest that you examine first the physical connections
between the drawing tablet, and the PC as well as the puck cord
on that digitizer.
Then you should verify that you have the most current version
of the WINTAB drivers installed.
Also test the tablet in another application like Photoshop
to determine that is either hardware or software (AutoCAD)
related.

This does sound like a driver issue... you might want to re-install the latest drivers. Also, I used to see this happen about 7-10 years ago on machines with low RAM and a slow processor. The use of CAD/Digitizer/loading drivers/etc pretty much maxed the poor machines out...

Thanks to all for the help. I am working on the driver. I'll post something when I find out.
