Contours and TIN not visible

I am new to Civil 3D but had worked a lot with LDD. I have built a surface but I cannot see any TIN or contours. I thought I had everything set as visible for the contours but I must have overlooked something. Any suggestions?

Style my good man Styles. What object style is set for that surface, if you using the default OOTB dwt then it is set to borders only or Boundary. Start with the NCS Extended template that has some default sytles all ready set up.

One other question. I had built an outer boundary but the surface created some little tails on the ends of some of the lines that extended past my outer boundary. How do you force the surface to stop at the boundary you define?

I'm going to guess the answer is to put the boundary in to the surface definition.
If not, delete lines.
