I am trying to customize a design center for our firm. I copied the AutoCAD design center to an office folder. I am now trying to change the current blocks in this new folder to fit our office standards. This is proving to be much more difficult than I thought it would. Does anyone know of a resource that would help me learn this process. P.S. My office is still using the old AutoCAD 2000 w/ Autodesk

Hi
Give the following links a try to start with -
Block Libraries in AutoCAD (http://www.cadinfo.net/editorial/blocklib.htm)
AutoCAD 2004 Design Center (http://acad-atc.ic.polyu.edu.hk/AutoCAD2004/autocad_design_center.htm)
Have a good one, Mike

Thanks Mike,
I have had good luck with manipulating a lot of the blocks, I am having trouble with the room-title blocks that have built-in operations such as underlining. I am also trying to make a room-title block that has a directional north arrow that I cant get to work.

Hi
Sorry I don't fully follow the problem / issue that you're describing (sorry, I'm not the quickest), could you please explain a little more, plus maybe post a sample file so we can see exactly what it is you are after doing.
Have a good one, Mike

Attached is a drawing of the blocks in our design center that I am having trouble changing to our office standards. Take a look at it, I want to add a North arrow that I can shift to the right direction when inserted. There is also an underlining feature that happens when I insert it in a drawing that I would like to have underline the text only & not attach to the North circle. Let me know if I am making sense, I am new at this.

Hi
The drawing didn't contain any Blocks, so I made two Blocks (hopefully something like what you're referring to) -
North Point Symbol
Drawing Title Call-up
The North Point isn't a problem as you can choose to "Scale / Rotate / etc" when you Insert from Design Center (as long as you use the Drag&Drop Right button method).
The Title Call-up is a little more of a problem with regards the underline due to the underline needing to grow / shrink as the title text changes (obviously not a problem if the title text is fixed).
What version of AutoCAD are you running?
If 2004 or 2005 you would probably be better off taking a look at Tool Palettes to achieve what you're after.
+
Fields in 2005 might prove a better option for the Drawing Title Call-up.
Please refer to attached drawing file "Plan-tle_RevA.dwg" shows what I done to make the drawing (Blocks) work through Design Center.
With the above have I got the right or wrong end of the stick?

Mike,
Thanks for the response, I am still running the old ACAD2000. I am also a newbie when it comes to the technical side of AutoCAD. Ive always had a CAD manager to take care of these things up to now, but I want to learn this. I also live in rural Nebraska so my local recourses are limited. I got your drawing & that is what I am looking for. I inserted it into my Design center on my server, but when I open the design center in a drawing the block name does not show up. The other names in the design center show up, how do I get the drawing name that I inserted to show up? Is there a certain way I have to insert it into the design center in order for it to recognize it?

Hi
Give the following Design Center Tutorial a try -
AutoCAD 2004 Design Center (http://acad-atc.ic.polyu.edu.hk/AutoCAD2004/autocad_design_center.htm)
If still no luck please get back to us here and we will go through the process step-by-step.
Have a good one, Mike
