Autocad in our office is loaded in separate pc's. Can I reference support files in the options to a central server. I tried doing it with the pc3 file and my computer would just hang. Are there files which I can or cannot do.

If you mean your "central server" would be a seperate/ different drive LETTER .... then yes, this can be done. If AutoCAD hangs on you then it's your network that needs to be looked at ....

Sorry in advance if that doesn't help.

You will want to first map the SAME network drive letter
on each client machine to point at your CADD Standards folder
Be sure the data is in there.
Then on each client open ACAD, enter OPTIONS, and go to the files tab.
Therein set the things you want to be networked to that location(s).
Keep the temp copy of your xrefs local, as well as the temp data directory.
You may need to increase your servers memory or add a second card to it
should the server prove to be the bottle neck.
