View Full Version : Height difference between two surfaces?

I have 2 surfaces where i would like to show the height difference between them!

In an older 3D program i was able to lower both surfaces respectivly to 0.0 for the lower surface.
Thus giving a model of the height difference.

Any ideas to solv this in Civil 3D 2009?

Regards
Alan

Create a TIN volume surface, using your two surfaces as the Base and Comparison surfaces.

Thnx SINC

Easy when you know how!

When you do this, does this mean 0 elevation is the elevation of the base at that point? If not, is there a property that will display the difference between the two?
When creating a "Tin Volume Surface" do not think about elevations but the relative distance between the two surfaces!
If the surfaces cross each other, then the result is zero at that point and then negative if the comparison surface continues below the base surface.

Keep modelling :)

You can even set a volume surface to display contours - each contour value shows the vertical distance between the two compared surfaces.
