Here's some more detailed information about this wish...

Currently when we use pipes for gravity flow sewer applications we will construct the pipe network and draw the pipes in profile along with existing ground and finish grade profiles. To easily manipulate the design, we will trace over the flowlines (or more often just construct a new profile representing the pipe network flowline) using the profile layout tools. This gives us the ability to adjust slopes and elevations of this pipe flowline profile using tools in the profile editor. Then, subsequent to this process, we must adjust the pipe and structure invert elevations to match the final design profile.

If Civil3d, when we draw pipes in profile view, would create a dynamic profile along the flowline of the entire pipe network, then tools in the profile editor, such as the panorama view, would be available to design the entire network. And (in my dream world) associated pipes and structures would dynamically change with each design change in the profile editor. This also allows a slope or invert change to affectively cascade through the adjacent pipes and structures.

In the attached image, the dark line along the pipe inverts (with slope labels) is a separate profile with an applied style. The ground lines have styles to label the top structures relative to the existing or finish grade lines. The rest of the pipe linework is taken from the pipe network itself. They are not connected in any way so we must edit both when creating and/or editing the network.

An additional request regarding styles and labels is based on this same scenario and involves merging the style options from profiles and the pipe network itself. It seems that we can only get the labeling we need for structure tops, inverts, pipe lengths, etc. in the profile view. However, the other labels, such as structure labels, have to come from the pipe network. Our "wish" would be that they are merged so that one style or style group would suffice.
