When we generate the section lines for a given alignment (starting at station 10+00) and tell it to generate section lines with a range from start to end OR starting with station 10+00 and go to station 12+00, the section lines always start with 10+50 and do not include the first one (10+00). What is the reason for this and is there a way around it? It kinda acts like the MEASURE command with a block whereas it places the first block at the distance of the increment given but not at the start point of the line.

Sections will be drawn only in areas where there is DTM information. My first item would be to check to see if the DTM extends beyond the station in question.

The surface is giant. Way past the alignment that we're adding cross sections to. This is not only a cross section problem. You'll also notice that when you have a profile view that starts with the station 10+00 it doesn't actually show the text 10+00 on the band for some reason. Same is true for the last station on the profile view. We have to trick it with a user defined station range of 9+99.99 and 12.00.01 (assuming your last station was 12+00) in order for it to show those stations on the band.

froose,

Actually, it shouldn't matter if there is a DTM at that station or not, C3D will still put a sample line at that station. I believe you are confusing this with the way LDT worked.

Coolmo,

In Civil 3D, you need to have a station in the alignment for this to work. Make sure your alignment starts at station 10+00 and no 10+00.000000001 or something like that.

Check it out for yourself (see attachment). I clicked on "by station range..." to create the sections and the option of "from alignment start" is TRUE and gives a grayed out station of "10+00.00'". When I click OK it gives me the box of all the sections it's gonna create and you'll notice that the first station on the list is 10+50.00. Where'd 10+00.00 go? You can clearly see that the station label is there and the alignment starts at 1000. I'm out of ideas.
