I have created a surface and am trying to load it into 3d office. When I load the dwg, I get the line work but no contours or triangles.

I am using c3d 2007. Thanks in advance for any help.

What is "3d office"?
Surface display is controlled by style, in Civil 3D.

Topcon 3D-Office

That's the program the construction company uses to load their collector. They have given me a copy of it so I can see if everything comes in properly but it wants to import a TIN. I can't find anything about C3D exporting TINs and if/what directory they are stored. Apparently C3D doesn't store them like LDD.

Export your Civil 3D surface to LandXML and import the LandXML file into Topcon 3D Office.

Here's what I had to do.
I had to explode the surface twice. When it is exploded the first time the surface becomes a block and 3D faces with the 2nd. Now 3D Office will find it as you import a TIN from an AutoCAD file.

I guess that works also, but that is what LandXML is for.
Now we know 2 ways....

XML is not an option for the surface. It it for alignments though.
Pretty strange. Anyway, I emailed Topcon and suggested using XML for surfaces. We'll see what happens.

Thanks for the help.

XML is not an option for the surface. Maybe you have an older version? According to this article (http://www.equipmentworldmagazine.com/apps/news/articleeqw.asp?id=57502), "Digital terrain models can be imported as DWG, DXF, LandXML and ASCII text files..."

Maybe the article is incorrect also...?
