We are using LDD release 2i. I imported a point file (.asc) and saved the drawing. Someone else in the office (who does not have LDD) opens the drawing and noting is there. Why is this and what do I do for anyone can see the points when they open the drawing. We are using AutoCadd release 2002.

You can define a label style for the points and have it insert a common sybmol (X or + or even a block), then add the items you want to show in your point label (Number, Description, Elevation, etc...), turn off the elevation, description and number in the display properties, insert the points using this label style as current and (Almost) everything you see in your drawing will be in a Vanilla AutoCAD drawing. The Point symbol used in LDT will not show in Vanilla unless they have ProxyShow variable turned on.

They can't see the points because you
need to install an Object Enabler for them
to see the Object ARX objects (points)
They should have seen a PROXY warning dialog
alerting them to this.

Follow this Link to determine the proper Object Enabler you need:

If they define a "Custom Point Label" they will be able to see it in any version of AutoCAD OR Microstation. Because the Label Style can insert a Block as the symbol and all the "Custom Label Entities" are simple text objects. This is how we get around the Object Enabler Problems. We have had no problems with our clients not seeing anything that we label this way. Many do NOT have the OE nor do they wish to, so this is how we got around that problem. I believe in 2002 and beyond they are in the Label Styles, prior to that they were under the Points menu.
