We are having a power plant built and the contractor has drawn the model in Microstation. So we might have to obtain a ms license. Anyone know what they cost or how to find out? I don't have any channels for ms.

Hi

Here's a few links (hope they prove useful) -

upFront.eZine web site (http://www.upfrontezine.com/welcome.htm) contains quite a bit of information on Microstation, as does -

Hi Ed

I could give it to you in £'s but I don't think that would help much ;-)

The only pounds I know about is when I step on the scale. Man, I'm rich! :-)

We maintain a single license of Microstation for translation purposes. We recently upgraded this license from MS95 to V8 for the grand total of about $800.00 by activating a select agreement. Even with an annual agreement, the cost was much lower than the outright cost of buying a new license.

That's kinda what I'm looking into Richard. But I don't have anything to upgrade. What would a new seat cost, roughly?

You said "roughly".

MicroStation is about $2,400 to $2,600 a seat.
It's a little more than AutoCAD (w/ no upgrades)

Hope that helps.

Close enough for the moment. Thanks.

We just bought 2 seats of V8 along with 1 seat of the AutoPlant.
With the select service and some training the total was just a tad over 14k:x

Ouch! It sounds like we would need AP though, since looking at the picture they sent, the entire plant is modeled, cooling towers, pipes, tanks, etc. However, probably a small price...considering the price of the plant itself. Glad its not my money. :-)

Thanks for the info.

Hmm, I don't remember where I got my price, but, when I was doing a quick article (shown in my thread autocad vs. microstation (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?postid=25762#poststop), I came up with the pricetag of $4,785?)
