I have lost the ability to plot preview recently. Every time I try, no matter what drawing (no matter if I'm even in a blank drawing) I receive a fatal error. I have tried both system and non-system printers, I've tried setting the hardware acceleration back to software. No one else is having this problem where I work. There are several machines with the same specs as mine, and they are fine. Does anyone have any ideas? BTW, the drawing will plot fine, as long as I don't preview.

Thanks,

Jason

Try to re-attach to the printer in question before doing
the preview. I'm thinking your machine isn't finding the
plotter.

OR

Grab a profile from one of the 'good' machines,
edit it to use your user specific paths as shown in
yours. Save and load that profile.

This is for 2000 based products:

Every printing/plotting device produces this fatal error. This includes publish to web.dwf, DWF eplot, DWF eview, DXB file. Though, publish to web.jpg and png don't give fatal errors.

I tried reattaching the printers. The problem persists. The plotter patch for the 2000 products has been superseeded by the sp1.

Hmmm. Switching user profiles does work. So my profile is corrupted. But if I don't know where the problem lies, I risk repeating. I will try rebuilding my profile bit by bit and checking that the plot preview works, but if you have any ideas to pinpoint the error, please share.

Thanks,

Jason

Recently we have purchased and installed AutoCAD 2005. We are still using 2002 right now because we're in the middle of a large project. I have noticed that my profile.arg works fine in 2005 but no longer in 2002. I suspect it has something to do with the migration tool that AutoCAD 2005 uses to import settings from one version to another.

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Looks like I need to redo my profile.

Thanks,

Jason

I am also having this fatal error issue. I done all that has already been suggested to no avail. I've uninstalled and re-installed test at each step. the last time the preview worked once, then the problem came back. I thought at first that it was the profile.arg as mentioned earlier in this thread, but the problem comes back even when I don't use it.

Any help would be great....

Paul

Have you looked at the knowledge base on the autodesk site? Originally, when I had the problem it was due to using windows system printers as opposed to pc3 files. Everyone else was set up using the windows system printers and didn't have any problems. I created pc3 files and used those. Plot previewing worked again for a month or so, and then the problem with the corrupt profile. There's info on an autodesk plotting patch (ID: TS32547) but that's for AutoCAD 2000, and the Service Pack 1 has superseeded the plotting patch, so you may already have it.

good luck

Jason
