Should I ask the administrator to re-install my AutoCAD 2004?

Each time I click on the Properties icon or simply double click on a line or circle (to activate the Properties dialog box), it sits there silently for a few seconds, and then give a warning that it's got to close, and do I want to save my drawing.

What might cause this?

I've also got AutoCAD 2005 installed (still not convinced I should change), and AutoCAD ADT 2004, and AutoTURN.

It would sound as if your object properties ARX file has been
misplaced, corrupted, or otherwise gone mal on you.
Attempt a repair install.

Hi

Might want to check out the following thread -

properties window displays error message when I press ctrl-1 (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=6833)

Have a good one, Mike

have you checked your ARG file

Folks-

Sorry it's been a while. I've grown quite comfortable with saving my work frequently, and gotten out of the habbit (and found work-arounds) for using Properties. The LIST command often tells me what I need to know.

I DID reset the profile through the Options. I assume is the same as installing an old good .arg file, as one of you suggested. No change from that.

I looked through all the files that end in .arx, as someone suggested, but couldn't find one that was obviously for the Properties DB. I might go to another AutoCAD computer in the agency (there are maybe 4 or 5) and see if maybe the properties.arx file exists there, and copy it over.

I just assume to do a "repair install" will require admin authority, which I only want to do as a last resort. Might have to ask the help desk for help afterall, but I sure wish I could fix this myself.

Hi

The Properties command is associated with the "acopm.arx" file (true for AutoCAD 2002).

Have a good one, Mike
