Vla-AddMText issue

I am trying to add some Mtext to Paperspace using Vla-addmtext, and it's working, BUT it's not obeying the set text style or text height. Well mainly the text height. I have the style defined as annotative with the paper text height set to 0.1. The style is current. Because it hasn't been working, I also reset the current style and set the sysvar textsize to .1 just before I create the mtext. There is one viewport on the layout that is 1:20 and annotaion scale matches in the viewport. Paperspace annotation scale is 1:1. The viewport is not active, but the text is being created in paperspace with a height of 2. For some reason it's being scaled to the mspace scale even tho it's creating the text in pspace. Anyone have any experience with this and any idea as to what I might be doing wrong?

No ideas? I know I can then use (vla-put-height obj hght) to the set text height, but why should I have to?

Have you tried rather using the old entmake instead? From the DXF codes in help, stuff like code 40 for text height (initial height for MTEXT) is not marked as optional, so I'm assuming both entmake & AddMText would need this to be set.
