annotative text and masktext command

When I use my masktext command on annotative text the text changes scale. I can use the background mask in mtext without any problems. Is there a setting I need to change to prevent the text from changing when using the masktext command?

Hello there!
Did you mean TEXTMASK? I believe you cannot use that on Annotation Text. But using a Background will be a good move. Plus Justify on Middle Center.

I believe the express tool textmask uses entmod to modify the object, which is known to break, or at least mess up annotative objects
