Diameter symbol in mtext v2009

Does anybody know how to change the diameter symbol in mtext from upper to lower case in 2009?

I didnt know that it had upper/lower case settings. possibly you could just change the height of the symbol to make it look lowercase

Uppercase Phi = U+03A6, lowercase Phi = U+03C6.
