I have AutoCAD 2009 64-bit and it is running very slow when doing anything. Has anyone run into this, and is there a fix?

When you say slowly, do you mean like the startup times, save times, time it takes a command to start from when it was initiated, or all of the above?
Most likely, a path that AutoCAD cannot resolve. Is the performance any better if the network cable is unplugged (and/or all other network connections disabled, including WiFi)?

We've tried it two ways. We typically run a batch file that runs countless LISP routines and maps stuff. AutoCAD ran really slow when going that route. We also ran "out-of-the-box" version and while it was faster, it was still very sluggish. I have so far found the best performance running our batch file and shutting down as much 2009 new stuff as possible, but it still is not as fast as the older versions were and is annoying when you have to wait for simple commands. As you can see in my signature below, I am running pretty good hardware. It just doesn't make any sense to me why it runs so slow.

I'm running ACA 2009 64 bit on the same machine you have, except I only have 4G memory. Mine is as fast or faster than 2008 was. It's not sluggish at all.
I'm with RK, I'd run filemon and see if a missing path isn't the problem. Also, I'd check the "add a printer" wizard in your plot files directory, especially if you've had an ealier release loaded. Mine was still pathed to the older release, which I had uninstalled. I just fixed that path and it fixed the problem.

I forwarded that to my CAD MGR. and he is looking into what you guys recommended. Thanks for your help. I will update this with what he finds.

Something else to look into, is whether you are running any VBA macros.

Grabbing at straws here is another idea................
I do remember seeing multi threading listed in the system bios.
Maybe it helps to turn it on/off.
