I need to know how to set up a formula for text in a Plan and Profile Frame. I need to know specifically how to get the value of (The FG centerline Elevation "minus" The FG PVI elevation.)

Thanks,

I beleive the formula would be
[116|1001]-[116|1201] when added to the text format/formula
it should translate to FG Centerline|Elevation-[116|1201]

Thanks for the quick response.
I think that's what I had. But for some reason it's only giving me the PVI Elevation.

Are any brackets or paranthesis needed?

The code posted was directly out of Text Label Properties Edit>>button
Select FG for Code category, and then select your elements in order and
click the Apply Code to Formula after each one. Then when your formula is
complete hit the ADD button. All should be well.

Ok, I made a mistake in the order. (not that it should matter)
I'm Taking the PVI Elevation and subtracting the FG Elevation.

It's coming up with just labeling the PVI elevation, not the difference.
Here's my code in the Formula Data...

[116|1201]-[116|1001]

Any thoughts why this isn't doing the subtraction?

Thanks,

Uh, yeah brackets.....those things that tell cad it IS a formula....

(FG Centerline|Elevation-[116|1201])

Still not working. It seems that there is some kind of limitation. When I'm in the Text Edit Format Dialog and chose the Code Category of "FG Centerline" Then I chose the Code for VC PVI Elev and Apply Code to Formula, then pick Code for Elevation and Apply Code to Formula. So that I have [116|1201]-[116|1001]. I then Add this to the Format Order Box.

I'm seeing that the Code Category is now gray scaled and cannot be picked. I'm also seeing that under the available codes, there is no Elevation anymore. Just PVI Elev.

Anymore thoughts? It just seems that these two codes can't work together. But they should!

It seems that this is not possible. After pulling out my hair, I finally found this web page stating "Sheet Manager does not have the ability to perform a calculation between two separate codes."

J,

I'm trying to run some tests here to convince myself that it
is, or is not working.
The part that makes it difficut, is that when we choose the
PVI option, it limits the placement to various 'Design Points'
that are limited to the range of options for Vertical Curves.
I was able to set it to Incremental, and the results were still
limited to the station range of the vertical curve.
When I select design point the retun I get is limited to the
PVI station only. I can even shorten the formula up to the
minus symbol, and it returns elevation-, If I then complete the
values, it places nothing because at that station the answer
is zero (or I think it would be zero).
So, I'll be poking at it a little bit more until I'm satisfied or I
drive my self a little further down Crazy Lane.

Point of curiosity, what is the desired goal of having this data
shown? As there may be another way to have Land produce the
ables and values you are after.
