Summary: It would be very quick and easy to create nice perspective/axonometric drawings if it only was possible to import images with transparent background into view (especially a 3d view and a rendered view).

Agreed - in a similar vein(seeing as for some reason I am not allowed to post new threads), I would love the ability for either transparency of objects and imported images in elevation, or the ability to import images in 3d oriented views which would allow us to acomplish the same thing.

At the moment we can import images in elevation with no transparency control (not an option) or setup a 3d elevation with transparency, but no images import(still not an option). We basically need to insert imported images of trees, people and vehicles and have them set to various amounts of transparency so as not to obscure the elevations (and allow transparent glazing). We cannot do this in Revit.

This is fundamental to our process of creating elevations for planning submission. The only workaround we have is to use Photoshop, but this is not what we want to do. We've looked a RPC's and rendering but have discarded that as an option as we prefer the shaded views.

We would prefer the transparency control in elevations, but if image import for 3d views comes in it would creat a viable workaround.

Apologies if I've hijacked a thread...

I agree, it would be nice to have a transparency option for imported image files. This is possible with AutoCAD why not Revit?

The biggest issue we have right now is being able to place a JPG image of a signed seal to be included into a border family.

Instead of placing a jpg, the image has to be converted to a PNG inamge, which will act as an invisible background, and not white out line work.

Yes, but png files still do not allow for total transparency levels for the entire image to be set. Only the background of the image can currently be made transparent. This is no good as the trees, cars or whatever we use obscure the elevations.
