I downloaded ACAD & RD from the subscription site. I downloaded ACAD, then registered, & ran it enough to make sure it worked. I used the download manager & downloaded, then installed RD. I can't run RD because I get an error message that says:
This application has failed to start because acdb17.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
I tried to do a repair, but my machine just sat there staring back at me saying it was checking needed resources. It shouldn't take 20+ minutes to check resources.
I uninstalled RD, then downloaded & re-installed it. Still getting the same message.

Are you sure you are getting RD 2010 and not 2009? I was told it wasn't available yet and didn't see it on the subscription site this AM.

I stand corrected, it is there. D/Ling now and will let you know. Are you on the 32 or 64 bit system?

I believe we're on the 32 bit system.
I got a note from a Desker that 2010 is trying to pick up on the 2009 version. He said they didn't find the bug, until after it went live, & that it is sporadic. He told me to uninstall, then go find some folders & delete them & start fresh. Those folders don't exist after an uninstall, & the folders I do find won't delete. My computer keeps finding reasons to not delete them. I was going to use the windows clean-up tool, but it isn't on my machine. I tried to download it, & get messages that it's already loaded. Now, I don't have time to do anything with it, so I'll just leave it for now & see what I can do next week, or so.

I did a repair on it after I installed and got the can not find the file error, it worked once, I closed AutoCAD Map3D down and tried to insert an image and got the error again. Does sound buggy.
Mumm, if i launch Map3D with the Raster Cui loaded in it it errors, if i launch Raster Design on Map3D (desktop Icon) it works. Using the Map3D (Icon) along it fails. :banghead:

I tried to do a repair, first thing. My computer locked up.
I've been working with a desker, & this is the first reply I got from him. It might help you.
I have seen this in rare occasions when installing AutoCAD 2010 then Map 2010 then installing Raster Design. I uninstalled then reinstalled Raster Design then rebooted the system and that seems to fix the problem. It is intermittent so it wasn’t reported until after we released the products. Let me know what happens.

Latest message:
Something got messed up in the profile or the registry. Raster Design 2010 should not be looking for the acdb17.dll file. This is a 2009 file so it seems that there’s some type of cross pollination of the startup files. Here’s what I’d try if you can. Uninstall Raster Design 2010 and delete it’s folder in c:\Program Files. Find your profile in
C:\Documents and Settings\<your name>\Application Data\Autodesk and delete the ARD2010 folder
and do the same in
C:\Documents and Settings\<your name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk
hen reinstall Raster Design.
There may be some problem with the initial creation of the profile when you installed. Let me know if this doesn’t work for you.

Make sure your support file search path contains the following two lines:
C:\program files\raster design 2010 oe
C:\program files\common files\autodesk shared\auxi
Also make sure that any pointers to Raster Design 2009 are removed from the search path.

I am a little slow on this post, but we are receiving the same errors and then some.
However, the desktops receiving these errors have never had AutoCAD 2009 or Raster Design 2009 installed. We went from 2008 to 2010 and are getting the error looking for the acdb17.dll file.
On the desktops that are running AutoCAD 2010 with RD 2010 we are getting corrupted tif images when saved. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Uninstall and reinstalls have not resolved anything.
Civil 3d 2010 w/RD 2010 seems to be fine so far. We have applied Civil and RD patches.

Thanks for your efforts thus far. Did anyone ever get RD2010 and AC2010 to work together?
I am trying to upgrade from RD&AC2008 to RD2010, installed on top of AC2011 and am getting similar errors with the installation. As of now, April 2010, I understand RD2011 is still months away but I wanted to roll out an upgrade to our users.
It would save me time if you know who is an expert on this AC&RD combination.

I have rd and acad 2010 working, but I doubt you'll be able to get rd2010 to work on 2011. Especially with the changes to the dwg format.

So, you would advise that we roll out AC2010 with RD2010 and then maybe later this year, go to 2011?

I guess that depends upon how much you need rd. You could deploy 2011 without it and then add rd at a later time.

I don't think they ever allow different versions to work together. I've never seen it happen.
You might be able to load ACAD & RD 2010 as a pair, then load ACAD 2011 for straight CAD stuff.

Jane,
I am running RD 2010 and Civil 3D 2010 on a Vista 32 bit workstation and RD 2010 has been the buggiest RD ever. And I have been using it since it was called CAD Overlay.
Everytime I insert an image into a drawing I get a save error on the drawing after that. I have to audit the drawing to do a save or quick save. It also crashes C3D two or three times a day.
I have installed all the service packs and other fixes posted on the support site and RD 2010 is still a piece of ****.
Adesk has no answers other than they are looking into it.
I have new a custom built Win 7 64 bit workstation that I am installing my 2011 software on. I have Revit Architecture/Building/whatever the name is now 2011 and C3D 2011 installed and they run great. So far RD 2011 has not appeared in my subscription software downloads. I am hoping they work out at least some of the bugs and make it a little more stable.

Hi Daryl,
I unloaded ACAD & RD 2009, then loaded 2010. Everything has worked since. I'm running Windows XP, so your snags could be a Vista thing. I've heard a lot of complaints about Vista. I don't have access to RD 2011 yet, but am waiting to see what it will do.
Keep me posted on how 2011 does.
