autocad 2012 adding unique part no for each visability
I have created a new dynamic symbol for our fire detection devices. This has 14 visability states & attributes, that all works well.
What I want to do & feel sure it can be done just not sure how is for each visability add a part referance number which will identify what type of detector it is. This needs to be contstant for each one so I do not have to enter data or pick from a list. I do not want it shown on the drawing this will be for data extraction only.
for example
state 1 = part no.1
state 2 = part no.2 etc
I have tried differant combinations using an attribute but can't seem to get the result I want.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone is able to give.

You can create an invisible attribute, then fill that attribute with a field that references the current visibility state of the dynamic block. All you'd have to do is name your visibility states after the information you want extracted. Sample:

You beat me to it. We do that for cable number blocks with the cable type invisible
