2013: Tips for my IT folks for 360 access?
Okay, so I've used vanilla AutoCAD 2013 at home, and really liked the 360 thing to store a few files and backup my profile detritus.
Of course, now that I've been able to install (AutoCAD MEP) in the office, I cannot access the 360 services.
Our IT department at the mothership is so far removed from us I know nothing about our network or firewalls.
I just thought I'd solicit the collective and see if there are any tips or bits of advice I should be sharing with our IT guys before I make the call to ask them to allow AutoCAD to access this service.
Thanks for any pointers.
Re: 2013: Tips for my IT folks for 360 access?
Considering the Terms of service for 360 -- if an IT group for a commercial entity reads that document, they'll have little choice but to block the service. Usage of it would violate any IT policy I've ever read.
Re: 2013: Tips for my IT folks for 360 access?
Psssshaw... that's hardly my point. :-)
I keep our files on our own servers, always will. But, I want to have 360 access to my profiles and a couple of sample files for demoing (ie, showing off to the luddites in an attempt to convince them to move forward with a couple of little initiatives I have).
IT hasn't read the TOS, nor will they. It's my job to manage and protect the engineering data, not IT's. Just like it's medical records' job to manage and protect the patient data, not IT's.
(bearing in mind that I work for a hospital, not a design firm)
They will open this up for me, I just want to make sure I can help make that as easy as possible.
Re: 2013: Tips for my IT folks for 360 access?
I've got a list of the holes they'll have to cut in their firewall back at the house. When I get back, I'll dig it out and send it to you. As long as you and your employer are happy with the ToS - it might work( I haven't tested for obvious reasons). Mine (design firm, client data, etc) would have to fire anyone who used 360 for drawings or settings synch. Once you use 360, any data transmitted is on somebody else's servers, not just yours.

I would really appreciate that, thank you. :)
