Worksharing Problems - Central Model Not Accessible
Ok guys, I just ran into this one and can't find an answer.
I've got a central model with local models on a couple machines. One of my users gets a message when opening his local model that "The Central Model Is Not Accessible. Re-open Using Detatch From Central." Umm, I don't want it detatched. How do I fix this? I thought I could just delete his local model and create a new local model, but that didn't work.
HELP!!!!!!!
Re: Worksharing Problems - Central Model Not Accessible
First, check that user's connection to the network ( cmd ipconfig /flushdns and renew ).
2nd, see if that user can open any other workshared project from the server--if so, it is something project-specific.
3rd, try changing the user's Revit user name in Options, and try opening Central and creating new local. I have seen a Windows User Profile sometimes casue problems as well.
4th, try deleting the user's .tmp files on his C: drive, then try again.

Network connection is not the issue. Confirmed working fine since he is working on other stuff across the network in the mean time.

Not project specific, does this with all projects.

Tried that, same problem.

Where do I find that? I know where Revit stores the local model and the backup files for that model but am not sure where the .tmp files reside.
Re: Worksharing Problems - Central Model Not Accessible
Open up windows explorer, right click on the OS C:/ drive and do a disk cleanup. When the disk cleanup manager pops up make sure to click the checkbox next to "Temporary Files". click ok.

Re: Worksharing Problems - Central Model Not Accessible
Did that, still have same issue. I'm thinking the next step will be to just detatch, then create a new central from that file. But I see a lot of posts where that has only solved the problem until the next time that computer gets turned off and turned back on.
Re: Worksharing Problems - Central Model Not Accessible
Try doing a Save-as of the Central, give it a new name. See if the user can then open it and create a new local.
Re: Worksharing Problems - Central Model Not Accessible
I'll give that a shot but I'm already skeptical since this problem exists on any other project he tries to open.
edit - Ok, had him do that, it gave an error message that the central model had been copied or moved, resave as new central. But it wouldn't let him do a save-as or anything.
Re: Worksharing Problems - Central Model Not Accessible
Detach from Central 1st, then Save as with a new name. Then see if he can Open from Central and Create New Local. If not--something is WAY wrong. Revit re-install, wipe Windows, etc.
If you create a brand new Project, can he open Central?

OH. . . . . . . . MY. . . . . . . . GOD!!!!!! I have a headache. :?
Aparently, the part I missed was that somehow his seat of Revit was in "Viewer" mode. Once I decided to shut it all down and reboot I no longer have this issue. :banghead:
Thanks guys, I do appreciate your prompt replies.
