HELP...AutoCAD Crashes When Plotting
Hello To All AUGI Members:
We are experiencing a strange problem with our drawing files when we attempt to plot a drawing that contains a polygonal viewport (6 sides) to any of our HP "pc3" plotter devices. In our West coast office they have an HP DesignJet 1050c and other HP laser Jet printers and when they try to plot a drawing with the multi sided viewport AutoCAD begins to make the plot but approximately 75% through the process AutoCAD simply crashes without any warning.
When they attempt to send a plot to another plotter device (JDL plotter, Canon printer, etc.) the drawing plots fine with no problems.
Has anyone seen this problem before and if so is there a work around or fix I can apply to resolve this problem...??
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Regards,
Vince
RE: HELP...AutoCAD Crashes When Plotting
Hi
Are you Plotting via Windows or Heidi Drivers?
Do the Polygonal Viewport boundaries consist of complex linetypes?
Have you tried running an Audit, Purge and Recover on all the drawing files?
Have a good one, Mike
RE: HELP...AutoCAD Crashes When Plotting
Mike:
The drawing files have been Recovered, Purged and Audited and the viewport boundary is just a 6 and sometimes an 8 sided polyline.
The driver is the hpgdi8.hdi, Version 1.1-8.0 16.86
Any suggestions...??

Hi
Try Plotting via the HP Optimized Windows Driver, if you have not got this Driver go the Hewlett-Packard web site -
HP - Software & Driver Downloads
+
Maybe look at this if using AutoCAD 2004 -
ID: DL404084 - hpgdi8.hdi Service Pack 1 Update
ID: TS81831 - Installing Service Pack 1a if Service Pack 1 was previously installed
Have a good one, Mike

Mike:
We are currently using AutoCAD 2005. Would the HP patches for 2004 also apply for the 2005 version....??

Hi
Nope! there are strictly for AutoCAD 2004.
If you haven't applied Service Pack 1 to AutoCAD 2005, you could always give that a go...
