Open drawing dialog box show it shows "List" instead of "Icons"
Not sure if I've posted this in the correct forum (Administrators?)
How can I permanently change the "open drawing" dialogue box to show a "list" of files and not "icons".
I know I can change them via the buttons on the top line of the dialogue box, but it does not remember this setting next time.
I prefer to see the list of drawings as a list and not large icons.
I do not have the same problem in Windows Explorer.
Any help appreciated.

RE: Open drawing dialogue box
Mike, thanks for the reply and pointing out other threads.
However, I have tried these options with no such luck.
A lot of these threads (even the AutoDESK site) appear to point to the problem occurring on pre 2000i versions running on XP. This I can understand.
But I am running Acad 2005 on XP-Pro and STILL having the same problems.
Acad is just not remembering the view settings, even though other programs including Explorer are.
Any more help would be gratefully appreciated. :-?

Hi Kieren
Pass, don't use AutoCAD 2005 on Windows XP Pro.
For what it's worth I use AutoCAD 2002 on Windows 2000 Pro - Don't experience this issue/problem.
Would you mind if I *moved* this thread to the ACAD 2005 General Forum?
Thanks, Mike

RE: Open drawing dialogue box
Well I was planning on posting a solution but instead I have a similar problem. I am using Land Enabled Map 2005 on Windows 2000. My open dialog is stuck on details. If I switch to list or thumbnail it won't remember the setting.
Fortunately, I want mine set on details so this isn't a big problem for me. But it will be a problem for users who want a different setting.
I tried the following to fix the problem with no succsess:
Verified Windows Explorer was set to "Remember each folder's view settings".
Set my Start in folder to list view in Windows Explorer.
Set all folders to list view in Windows Explorer.
RE: Open drawing dialogue box
Close all sessions of AutoCad.
Start one session of AutoCad.
Select Open and set Views to Details.
Select a drawing to open and open it.
Once the drawing is open, shut down AutoCad.
Details should stay set.

Hey Guys
I have a similar problem with the "open" dialog box...I want to get rid of the "size" and increase the "name" width of the folder option in that particular dialog box but everytime I turn it off it returns upon the next opening...ACAD 2007 LDD, Windows 2000 Pro
