Text backwards after Mirror Command
Cryptic enough title for this post?
I have recently upgraded to AutoCAD MEP 2008 (no Express Tools). And I need to find out if there is a setting or Sysvar that corrects the text in a block to read correctly after you mirror a block?
What happens is, I mirror a block with text in it and it is now backwards. It happens in a block with text or a block with attributes.
In previous versions AutoCAD 2004 & 2007 it flipped without a problem but they were machines that were previously set up by others.
Any ideas?

The variable is "mirrtext" you want it set to "0" (off).

Thanks that helped with the blocks with Attributes.
But, blocks with plain text still mirror backwards. Or am I expecting something that never worked in the first place, after all it is monday and my brain is celebrating the Giants win!?!

I believe that plain text in a block will stay mirrored no matter what.
Happy Monday!

Yeah you're right... coffee set in... found the following in the Help Section
Quote:
MIRRTEXT affects text that is created with the
TEXT,
ATTDEF, or
MTEXT commands; attribute definitions; and variable attributes. Text and constant attributes that are part of an inserted block are reversed when the block is mirrored regardless of the MIRRTEXT setting.
Re: Text backwards after Mirror Command
So you could of course convert all text in a block into Attributes, simply for this reason. Although you might have difficulty with the MText objects. You could try MultiLine Attributes, but that's another kettle of worms.

Re: Text backwards after Mirror Command
You could circumvent this by adding a Flip Parameter to the block, then in stead of mirroring the block, you change its Flip state.
For example insert the attached as a block into your drawing. It shows TEXT, MTEXT and the 4 variants of ATTRIB.
- If you use the mirror command, only the ATTRIB entities mirror according to the MIRRTEXT sysvar. However if you ever use the ATTSYNC or BATTMAN Synchronize they get turned as per normal text would.
- If you use the Flip State (Arrow on 2nd line) to "mirror" the block, the text and the fixed ATTRIB's mirror correctly. The movable attributes don't move at all, even after using ATTSYNC.
So if you only want text or fixed attributes, then use a flip-state. Otherwise your block has to have Attributes only, or you create a mirrored version of the block.
