Linetype text direction on arcs
I have had this problem before but I can't find a thread on this issue.
Does anyone know if there is a way to change the direction of text in custom lintypes on arcs. No matter which direction I draw the arc it always has the top of the text towards the center.
Thanks in advance.
RE: Linetype text direction on arcs
Would you believe it? I saw a tool to do just this last night on a web site that I can't recall.
It is out there. I'll keep looking.
RE: Linetype text direction on arcs
Hi
Take a look at the routines offered in this post ( RE: change linetype direction ).
Have a good one, Mike
RE: Linetype text direction on arcs
Okay. Not a straight-forward tool but -
"Q. How to change the direction of text in complex linetype in arcs?
A. Texts in complex linetypes (e.g. in the standard AutoCAD "GAS" linetype) is drawn in the direction the line was drawn. But arcs are drawn by AutoCAD always in the same direction, so texts always face inside arcs with their top side.
If you convert an arc to a polyline (_PEDIT), you can reverse its direction and then the text changes its orientation (if you have the object property 'linetype generation' set to On)."
Next, you need a routine to reverse the direction of the pline. I've tried 2 routines this evening but neither worked correctly in A2006 :-( .
Sorry, I don't have any more time this evening but Google search "reverse polyline" and you should find something.
Luck.

I appreciate the help brother John. I'll do that search. Thanks.

Hi
Hint - rpoly.lsp does :)
Did for me when I carried out tests earlier today...
Have a good one, Mike

I realised why the routine I tried (rev.lsp) didn't work and it was my fault.
One other possible workaround would be to draw a new polyline over an existing arc using Pline/Arc/Second point options and picking End/Mid/End points on the arc in a clockwise direction.
