Sloped Driveway - any ideas on how to do this?

First, I'm sorry but my boss won't let me post a pic or rvt file for your help. With that said hopefully I'll be able to type this clearly enough for everyone to understand. We're developing a site right now and I need the driveway to slope up approx. 8" from the entrance building to the garage. Once, the driveway hits the garage it needs to be level from there to match the FF of garage bays.

I've tried creating a floor for the driveway and using the slope arrow and I'm able to get it to match at the entrance bldg and up to the first garage bay; however, the floor keeps going at the same angle so when it reaches the last bay the driveway is above the FF of last bay.

Any ideas you have or if there is a better way to model this please post your ideas.

Use 2 floors? :neutral: Unless you lost me. . .could you post an image not related to the project. . .how bout a scanned sketch? You could even make it reversed so that we could hold it up to a mirror and then no one else would be able to de-code the message!! :razz:

Either use two floors, which will let you change the slope at that point, or simply use a little piece of topo surface. Personallly, I'd use the latter, unless you absolutely need to show the thickness of the slab in section (which you could even do via detail lines in the view or a detail drawn in a drafting view).

Here's what I have in my rvt file. Since we are still in the planning stages, I really don't want to do a lot of changes to the topo (unless this is the only way to do it) until we're further along in the project. I hope this helps.

Here's my take, based on your image.
- Using floors, you are stuck with flat (not level) surfaces.
- You will need separate floors for the garages to keep them level
- You can use separate floors for the parallel paths near the road entry - either level or not.
- If you MUST use a floor for the "figure 8" portion, to keep the connection level with the garage entrances, you may have to slope away from the garage entrances. This will throw off your more distant "+8" elevation and your "+0" elevations will not be aligned with the parallel paths to the road entry. You could try to meet some of these alignments by creating more floor segments. It's not what I would do.

So your choices seem to be... Use a topo surface or create multiple floors of varying slopes that do not align correctly.

I'd use floors for the floors of the garage, and toposurface to create the drives.

I would use an inplace family set to type floor and then use a void in the elevation to get what you are looking for.

I finally broke down and split my topo surface and I'm working on it that way. Although, I might switch and do what gregcashen mentioned in his reply.
