"Revit can't do that....." series part 2
Some call it the Daniel Libeskind style; extremely faceted geometry. While the geometry looks quite complex, it's not that difficult to create it if you use sud-d surface modeling tools. But slicing the faces, adding and pulling vertices, you can pretty much achieve any desired shape.
There is no doubt that Revit can create these shapes, but it could take a very long time to get their. The question is, how to get their under 3 minutes without using sub-d tools.
The following examples where created in 3ds max and SketchUp.

It would be easy enough to make those shapes using just faces in Revit. You could definitely do that in a few minutes.
It would be a bit more work to do it with a solid, but you would have to use some voids.
Which method you would use, would depend on what you require. If you need to generate floor plates then you would need it to be a solid, but if you just want to generate wall by face; faces would be fine.

I've tested that method and it seems to be more flexible that solids. However, you are still limited by the way you add edges and profiles. When you extrude an edge, Revit doesn't allow you to merge two vertices into one.
Nevertheless, it's an interesting option.

Fano psoted a videousing the adaptive components to make complex geometry. It seems the modelling by nurbs.
Using his method and creating lines to drive the form, it can be done fast.
Sum of masses is another option.

Is there some magic to the 3 minute mark? If so, does that then apply to the production drawings created via the model too?
