    Default 2010 Vista Install Failure

    Hi all,

We have 10 computers at work, 6 running Windows XP, 4 running Vista... Can you guess which ones are giving me trouble?!

The XP installations were a breeze and problem free.

When installing on Vista, the entire process goes fine up until you actually want to start the program... Everything seems to be in place in C: drive. I have a Revit 2010 icon on my desktop.

But when I go to open it, the 'splash screen' pops up... and thats it : |

After 15 seconds or so it says 'Splash screen not responding...' in the task bar and tak manager. The program just will not open, yet it all seems to be there...

    What could be wrong?

Where do I find the installation log?

Where do I look for errors/problems?

Hope someone can help : |

    Thanks

Strange - I've done two installs on Vista 64 and they went fine - mind you I turn off User Account Control, make sure I have Adminstrator rights, disable Windows bitdefender, turn off real-time anti-virus scanning...

Bit of a long shot but you could try right-clicking the desktop icons and choosing 'Run as Administrator' just to see if it makes any difference.

same i got it to install on Vista 64 at home ok....but when it starts up i get the not-responding briefly then it starts up.

when you installed, did you use a serial or 000-000000? as after the splash screen the activation screen comes up and it seems to be getting stuck there.

    Ok chaps...

The solution to this for me was to simply install Service Pack 1!

If you have auto updates enabled, it should have told you about the service back when it was released and added it to your important updates list. Obviously didn't!

If you right click 'My Computer' and the select 'Properties' - it will say if service pack 1 is installed under the windows version heading.

If it isn't, like on our machines, go here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Download the 434.5mb service pack file and install.

    Sorted!

    Ours work fine now
