Devices to Blocks

Hey Folks,

We are about to start another project using MEP (electrically) except there is one hitch. The client that we are working for is requesting that at the end of the job, the as built files we give them can be opened in AutoCAD 2006 with no 3D anything...that's all they have, thats all they want.

We know that "export to AutoCAD" is one option BUT it leaves all electrical devices such as lights and receptacles as basic AutoCAD entities (lines and circles).

I'm looking for a way to convert the Electrical Devices to the plain old blocks that they were made up of. I've tried exploding a device but the gives me an anonymous block that I have no way of editing or manipulating...as far as I know.

Any Ideas are greatly appreciated.

Hi Scott,

Martin Scmidt from Autodesk made the attached files available. as part of class #ME210-3 at last years AU. I've only used the "ReplaceDeviceWithBlock" function so far. It worked pretty well

Do you know where I can find the source code for this application, I would like to use it in AutoCAD 2013+ ?
