Here is what's been checked:
Can he open and save other autocad drawings? Yes.
Can he open the offending drawing and do a saveas to another name? Yes.
Can he then continue doing saves in the newly named drawing? Yes.
Can he close and reopen the renamed drawing and do saves? Yes.
Any dwl files in the way? Only the ones he leaves during the lockup and those get deleted before we try again.
Was he able to save this drawing in the past? Yes.
Did we try auditing, looking for anonymous groups, blank texts, do a recovery, etc? Yes.
Did we try the same thing in the XREF drawings? Yes. All clean and error free.
Did we reboot? Yes.
Did we restore the user profile to a backup? Yes.
Did we clean the TEMP directory? Yes.
Only this one user's computer locks up when trying to save only this one drawing. Other workstations have no problem opening, saving, closing the drawing.
His autocad command line shows the ctrl save works after running the command, (it shows qsave on the command line) but then the command line locks up into a loop that keeps slowly adding lines that say, "Done."
Done.
Done.
Done.
We have to exit the drawing by task manager.
Did we check the app loads? Yes.
Did we try saving the drawing with no lisps loaded in the startup suite? Yes.
Did we see if there are other autoload files loading. Yes. All okay.
Did we reboot again? Yes.
Have the hard drives been defraged? Yes, weekly.
Has a scan disk been run? Yes.
Does he have memory issues - same settings as other work stations.
This one has me puzzled. Why would someone not be able to save only a single autocad drawing because of it's name? If it is renamed, he has no problems saving it.
Any suggestions on what to look for next?
