    Default Grading alignment to alignment..

    Hello all,

I was wondering if there is a quick and easy way to set up a grading that is simply a direct connect from one alignment to another. Essentially it would be a slope/link from an alignment to a target alignment. Thanks!

You mean taking grades from Profiles?

It's relatively easy to do with a Corridor.

    Um....no.

For my first attempt I created one corridor with an assembly with a "link to marked point" subassembly on my main alignment and then I created a corridor for the target aligment which was a simple assembly with a "marked point" subassembly. It seemed to make sense....link to marked point on one side, marked point on the other. No dice.

It could also be done with break/feature lines I imagine if there was an option to grade to a named feature line.....

For instance if you are creating a corridor with an urban sidewalk subassembly, when setting targets in the corridor dialog you are prompted to select target alignments for offset and elev. Basically something like this, but just with a simple link.

Ah yes, it is relatively easy. It is "link offset and elevation" subassembly that I was looking for. Thanks for all your help.

That one should work. You could probably use any of a number of subassemblies - just find one that has Alignment and Profile targets available. Most of the Generic Link subassemblies have this capability, as well as most of the Lane subassemblies, etc.
