    Default frustrating grid problem

i am a structural technician who as been using revit structure for a few months now.

The problem is that when i bring in the architects model into my model it shows the gridlines (on plan) but on the architects model itself i cannot seem to find any gridlines. ive checked visibility graphics and ive also checked reveal hidden elements but i still cant find any grids to show up in the architects model.

It is frustrating because i am trying to see if any of my columns clash with windows and it cannot bring my model in to the correct place without any grid.

if anyone as any idea what im doing wrong then this would be a massive help.

    cheers for your time

Go to the Revit links section of graphics displaly dialog box. Set up a custom display and turn off the Archies Grid lines under the "Model Categories" of the Linked Revit model.
The other option would be to see what's all turned on in your set up for the "Discipline" selected for you view. Or at least I think you can modify those. I don't know, I haven't had to do that yet. If you can't they should allow you to change it. I just can't find anything about how to modify those in the user guide.

Thumbs up Re: frustrating grid problem

Have you checked the visibility/graphic overrides for the linked model in the view you want to be able to see grid lines....?

    > Visibility/Graphic Overrides

    > Click the Revit Links Tab and change the display settings to custom

    > Change the model categories to custom

    > Change the annotation categories to custom

    > Make sure the "show categories from all disciplines" is ticked

    > Scroll down through the annotation categories and make sure "Grids" are ticked.

Refer to attached image for more info.

Hopefully that should solve your problem!!
