    Default Drawing Index

    Hello,

I was wondering is there a way to use the attributes in the title block to create a drawing index.

I'm using 2008. I see alot of threads for Revit, and from what i'm reading it would solve my need. I don't see my company purchasing it, so I have to do with what I got.

    Thanks.

    What is "it"?

What you want is possible and this is what document management software does. Generally, you would extract the info to a database and then use the db's reporting functions to generate a report. You can check the cad mgr forum for some discussions on document management. If you have experience working with MS Access or some similar db program, you should be able to do it. I would recommend using .NET to do it though, or at least vba as it would be easier to work with the db's api in those evironments.

You can use Lisp with ObjectDBX to get the information you want. Here is a thread at another site that shows how it can be done.

Also I think you can use Sheet Sets. I don't use them, but I see a lot of posts of some of the stuff they can do, and I think your request is one of them.

However, you didn't say if you just wanted a single list, one time or you wanted to maintain a list. The approach would be different for each.
