Problem:
We generally issue paper copies and pdf files from our Revit projects.
We also issue Autocad files for general arrangement plans, sections and elevations as these are required for use by fellow consultants and sub-contractors.
However, Revit has a problem where geometry can be move in exported dwg files as we have found to our cost. e.g suspended ceiling tiles pattern lines moving and external wall cladding pattern lines moving. In some cases geometry such as filled regions etc have been offset or are totally missing from exported dwg files.
Now all these problems have been reported to Autodesk with the response that they are aware of the problem, but no timescale for resolution.
We cannot check each individual exported dwg file for accuracy against the revit model, especially on larger jobs as this is a huge time waster.
Solution:
Put a discalimer on our titleblock loosely worded as follows:-
" SOFTWARE WARNING - .dwg (Autocad) files are provided FOR INFORMATION only. Autocad files are generated from Revit, a non - Autocad software program.
Electronic pdf files take precedence, and in the event of any discrepencies please advise the Architect immediately".
However, this is not really a solution, and I was wondering how others cover this issue apart from the 'Don't issue dwg files' argument as this is not practical for us.
Thanks.
