    Hi ntnik,

In this circumstance, I would typically create a separate roof, adjust the pitch of this separate roof so that the the ridges are aligned and then use the join roof tool to stitch the two roofs together.

    Cheers,

    Ian

they are separate.....i did change to extrusion and it worked....was just surprised that doing it in footprint did this....i guess its the corner where they come together

I have had no problems in the past using footprint, but I will keep an eye out in the future.

    Cheers,

The problem with the Dormer is you made it 3 points. You need to make the roof rectangular and then use the join tool to get the valleys. See attached

Also, are you using slope-defining edges, or slope arrows? If the dormer just comes to a point at the main fascia/eave, and doesn't extend out at all, then you'll have to use slope arrows.
