    Default 'Tree' selection Filter

It would be way cool if the Filter Selection tool not only showed the category of the items currently selected, but if it then had a '+' next to each category that would break out a list of the families within that category currently selected. Each would have a checkbox, so you could grab the whole category, or just certain families within that category.

That way you could grab all of the furniture within a selection set, or just the chairs.

    A great wish,

It can be very difficult at times to just select a certain family and I agree that we could do with greater functionality from the filter tool than we presently have.

Alternatively maybe the factory could extend the right click option for 'select all instances in the view only '

That's a slightly different functionality but still a very good possibility.

Both or either one would be a step forward.

Looks like this might be the first and only clear landslide winner of the day.

Three years after the original post i still think this would be the ideal solution. But I'd be happy already if the selection filter would distinguish between basic basic, curtain and stacked walls. It does already treat different line types separately, so it seems this should be simple enough.

Filter dialog would be something like this:

    Lines (<Centerlines>)
    Lines (Thin Lines)
    Walls (Basic Walls)
    Walls (Curtain Walls)
    Walls (Stacked Walls)
    ...

(oh, and also great would be a distinction by wall function, by base constraint, by structural usage, by room bounding.. wait! let's go back to the original post !-)

Funny, I had this same idea about a month ago in this thread http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=9288. I would really love to see this implemented. It would be such a huge time saver.
