Default Performance Issues with AutoCAD 2010?

Hi, just wondering if anyone else has experienced any of the following issues w/ AutoCAD 2010.

    1. Upon opening a second or third drawing (it varies), drawing will open but no entities are displayed. Basically looking at a black screen yet all commands work, ribbons are visible.

    2. Cursor sticks when placed over objects - BIG TIME. This seems to happen again after a few drawings have been opened in a single session of CAD.

    3. True Type fonts (unfortunetley our standard font) cause display laggings.

    4. Upon opening an instance of MTEXT for the first time in a drawing, it takes about 10 seconds for you to be able to edit it.

I find myself shutting AutoCAD down frequently to "reset" these issues frequently.

If you have a lot of fonts (we have well over 1000 collected from Architects over the years) it will take some time to load. It seems ACAD needs to look at each one the first time Mtext is used. I first noticed it with ACAD 2008.

Definitely ensure you've got only the bare minimum amount of TTF files installed in the Windows Fonts folder. It slows down other progs as well ... you know you'll run into trouble if you've got a 1000 TTF's. Best is to keep them below 100.

As for sticking cursor, try turning visual highlighing off.

At the other end, you need to ensure your ram is at least 4GB. And I recommend going to 6GB.
Or simply buy a new PC to meet the AutoCAD 2010 hardware spec if your one is 3 year old or even older.

The secret of software upgrades, on the other hand, are always meaning that all software makers unite with hardware makers to dragging your money into their pockets quicker & regularly (yearly in most cases).

What's your hardware spec? RAM especially needs 4MB or more. Then also check hardware acceleration for graphics card (turn it on/off to check), also check if your card's latest drivers are installed & if its one of the ADesk certified cards.
