    Default Braced Frame connections

    Please see attached image files.
When we detail braced frame connections, we usually show the gusset plates, welds, etc. with the view being in front of the framed connection. The problem I am having is that while creating the braced frame elevations in Revit Structure, I use a FRAMING ELEVATION which is cut along a grid line. This works fine for the elevation but not so good when you blow up the connection to detail. Since it slices it along the grid line, it cuts all members at that location (see blow up detail).

How do you all handle this? I would prefer to see the HSS brace members with the wall lines hidden and the column flange beyond as it would appear if you viewed it a foot away for instance. I know you can move the rear cutting plane but that does not help with my problem regarding the HSS brace members.
    Any thoughts?

    Thank you!

I typically use and train people to use a regular "elevation" as opposed to a "framing elevation". This way you have the ability to show what you need to. Also when the project switches from steel braced frames to a different lateral system, such as concrete shearwalls you're safe.

Under the properties of your framing elevation there is a property called "Associated Datum", which should have the grid value for the grid you picked when you created the view. If you set that to be none, you will be able to move the cut plane around where ever you want.
