Default Face based family - always vertical

I started a face-based family. I loaded it into my project and noticed I had forgotten to check always vertical. When I go back into my family I cannot find the always vertical box. Even when I changed the family category nothing changes. I thought I had done this before. What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks,
    Matt

Some of the family templates do not have the "always vertical" parameter, such as the "Generic Model face based" family. Changing the category under the "Category and Parameters" will not change the fact that the family is still face based, which appears to be the determinant for the "Always vertical" parameter. As of now, I do not know how to change this option within an existing family, it appears to be hard coded. If you want the "always vertical" parameter, a new family will have to be created that has that option in the family template. It would take me too long to list all of them here, but I do know all of the the generic model families have it except the face based and line based templates.

I would suggest you start your family (maybe a generic model family) and make it "Work plane based" under Family Category and parameters. Doing this, you'll have the "Always vertical" option and still can insert it based on a face or a work plane. The option to insert based on a face or work plane will appear at the options bar once you insert your family on the project.
