    Default selecting mutliply objects

when I select 1 object and there is another object that was mirrored from that object, Max will select both. I would like to move only one. Is there a way to control the layers that have the same name or will I have to rename my layers according to the copy of another object? I tried looking it up in Help of Max but just didnt know what I was looking for. have Max design 2010.

what kind of object is it? if it's a spline, you'll need to detach it as a separate object first.

This may be a stupid question, but are you selecting from the viewport or from the Layer Dialog Box?

the object was mirrored in ACA 2008. When I select, I am selecting the the viewport. Here is what I did. I went back to ACA 2008 and renamed all the layers to my mirrored object. Then, I imported the my model into Max. Now that the layers have different names I can move around one object at a time. Do you want to see my finished product?

Glad you were able to work out the issue, and yes, we'd love to see the rendering!

here is a thumbnail of my chairs. I was wondering, was there a faster way of selecting the objects then the way I did it?
