Default Finish take off by room

This is something that I keep seeing touched on but still leaves me a little confused.

I want to schedule a finish in each room i.e. how much wall area is in the living room. In fact, I want to schedule most things by room.

Also, what methods are available for walls that run through several rooms? Do you have to use the split face tool?

Lastly, the material lengths for a wall come out the same, even if the plaster finshes short of the core?

If it's any help, we do alot of refurb and the schedules are needed to estimate cost of decs.

As far as I know, finishes by room is a manual task. If you split walls at every junction (not split faces, can't schedule those) you could calc wall areas in a schedule.

We do our room finishes with a room schedule and a finishes key schedule, perhaps worth investigating?

    Best wishes.

I do not believe walls in Revit are "room" aware, so that you cannot do this with an automated schedule. It would end up being a truly manual task.
