Default DWFx the way to go?

I haven't invested any time into learning about Microsoft's XML or XPS formatting until a few minutes ago. My understanding is that it allows better data exchange between programs?
If my understanding is correct, then does that mean there are more opportunities to search for information in a drawing if it is printed in .DWFx? Other than Autodesk products, can other programs access information inbedded in the file? I know i can open the files with internet explorer...
I'm considering whether it makes sense to change our "electronic deliverables' to include .DWFx files, .XPS files, or continue with the more universal .PDF files (at least here in the US), as I understand the files are considerably bigger. I created a .XPS file and it was SMALLER than my drawing file (176 Kb vs 220). The .dwfx was smaller yet, so I'm confused a little about any added data....
So does anyone else have any thoughts? Is using dwfx a no brainer, or has it not caught on (personally I would rather send a file most everyone can read, or download free software easily to read it, than have proprietary formatting that requires a bit more work in finding and installing)?

I would probably check what version you need of internet explorer. Of course you do have the users of other explorer that probably would not be able to read it without internet explore or the free download from autodesk. But you are correct that it is a much smaller file than any other.
