You will have to make the change, if not now, next year... So I think you should stay with the ribbon UI... It will get better probably...

There is more background in other threads and in particular issues with using the 'debug' 2009 inteface

Personally I think it is wonderful to have the 2009 interface available - even if there are a couple of omissions people are clever at creating workarounds.

blah, no thank you. You can't stay in your old ways forever. May as well just learn the new interface and get proficient at it. IMHO it's not worth it to go back to the old interface only to have to use more "workarounds" to get certain things to work.

I've only been really working in 2010 for 2-3 weeks now, and I'm already pretty comfortable with it. I'm at a point where I can still work in 2009 if I have to, or in 2010 (preferred).

The new UI is here to stay, may as well get used to it.

Has anyone tried this, and noticed that 2010 seems to load faster with the 2009 UI enabled?

I like the UI okay, but this bothers me...

Everything seems a little snappier with the 2009 UI.

I'm all for progress and I'll go for the updated UI when or if ever it gets improved, but I'm not holding my breath.

It's just a relief to get back to a smooth workflow - but equally if people find the 2010 interface fine for them, great.

The 2010 UI itself doesnt bother me. Even though some things are less efficient, ive gotten quick at knowing where things are.

But theres no getting around the fact that the 2009UI version of 2010 is WAY WAY faster. One only has to start Control+Tabbing between families and projects to get their minds blown at how fast it moves, lol.

But... Im not using the 09UI, save for checking it out for idle curiousities.

Is the old UI even faster than it was in the actual 2009 release of Revit? If so, I'd be willing to bet it has to do with some of the functionality missing from the old UI in 2010.

It is certainly very fast compared to the 2010 interface.

You might be right, although the omissions have not affected anything I am doing so far.

It's just such a pleasure to have a snappy, responsive interface and no icons whizzing from place to place.

On my box. 2010 with the Classic UI is way faster than the ribbon & definately faster than 2009 itself.

It may be apocryphal, but I read somewhere that 2010 was completely re-written to be a native 64 bit application. If that is the case, given that I am running Vista 64bit, it may explain the difference I am seeing, as the loss of functionality is very minor as far as I can tell.

    Cheers,

    Ian
