    Unhappy Converting a Loft to a solid

    Is it possible to convert a 3d loft surface to a 3D solid?

    attached is an unequal half ellipse (the length height and width are all different) loft surface, i want to convert it to a solid so i can work out the fill area, i have about 40 of these to do all with differnt dimensions and really need to find out if its possible to work out their area's.

    If someone knows how please let me know. im using Autocad 2010

    thanks

    M2S.lsp doesn't work on this but this site looks interesting and their prices are not high.

    Converting the cross sections to Regions prior to lofting seems to work.

    Brilliant, thanks for the help on that one.
    Sadly i was hoping to extract an Area measurement from the solid but apparently it doesn't do it.
    does anyone have any idea how to extract that sort of data from this model? (attached)

    The _AREA command, with the OBJECT option will return the total area of the solid. Getting the area of just the curved surface requires jumping through some hoops, however.

    Command: area

    Specify first corner point or [Object/Add/Subtract]: o

    Select objects:

    Area = 255425227.2216, Perimeter = 0.0000

    Hi,
    How do you loft regions - what version AutoCAD are you using - or is there a trick to it? I can't in ACAD 2007.

    I’m using 2009, but maybe that capability wasn’t around for ’07. Is it a very complex loft?

    I opened your drawing to see what you did, tried to loft the regions but I couldn't. I think you're right, it's not possible in ACAD07.

    Probably not reason enough to upgrade, but annoying none the less I presume.
